This unique putter was originally named the Chantilly after the hometown of the inventor in France. It soon became known as the "Gassiat" after Jean Gassiat, a four time French National Champion and Winner of the 1912 French Open.
The toe of the putter is at a right angle to the face which the inventor claimed help you better align the putter.
