Harry Vardon, Gene Sarazen, and Walter Hagen were the most notable holdouts to switch to a socket neck driver from a splice/scared neck driver.  A splice neck is firmer an inch and a half further up the shaft vs. a socket and moves the bend point of the shaft further up the shaft vs. a socket.  In part this provides a more stable impact zone and ball control thru a higher flex point in the shaft and reduced torque.  With a nice deep face, 13* of loft, and a neutral face angle this brassie is designed to accommodate players of all abilities .  Whether you hit it high or low be confident that the stabilized impact zone will benefit you as it did Vardon, Hagen, and Sarazen in finding fairways.  In Mr. Vardon’s own words from Vardon’s book “it is my experience that I can constantly get a truer and a better ball with them.”
